Slow in the Demand from China Drops Nike

Nike Inc. (NKE), the biggest company of sporting-goods in the world, dropped after exposing future orders that followed the estimate of the analysts as requirement plunged in China.

Nike slipped 1.1% to $94.91 at the shut in New York. Based in Oregon, the Beaverton shares have dropped 1.5% this year.

Mark Parker, chief executive officer has been marking the merchandise down in China for inventory clearance that was not selling sound, stinging need for fresh products. China?s future orders, not including fluctuations in the currency, dipped 6%, following the average estimate of the analysts for a gain of 1.2 percent%. September to January?s total orders for the Nike brand increased 8%, following the average estimate of 10%.

An analyst for Canaccord Genuity Corp. in New York, Camilo Lyon said that the numbers on futures are the key, and a pessimistic China number added up with the slow in numbers of global future drives down the stocks the most. The orders of China were poorer than expected by anyone.

President of the brand Nike, Charles Denson said that the Chinese economy emerges to be dawdling, crafting an impact of short-term to any business working there. It is unlikely to quote when the results in China will improve.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Greg Zuerlein kicked four field goals, including a 58-yarder and a club record 60-yarder, to help the St. Louis Rams to a 19-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Special teams led the way for the Rams (2-2), with a fake field goal turning into a 2-yard touchdown pass from punter Johnny Hekker to Danny Amendola to put St. Louis ahead 10-7 late in the first half.

The loss came six days after Seattle (2-2) beat Green Bay on a botched call by replacement officials on a final-play touchdown pass into the end zone. Regular officials were back this weekend.

Marshawn Lynch led Seattle with 118 yards on 20 carries, including an 18-yard score to cap the game's first possession.

The Rams intercepted Russell Wilson three times, with Bradley Fletcher clinching it with a pick at the Rams 25 with a minute to go.

Somalia's al Shabaab rebels pull out of Kismayu bastion

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia's al Shabaab rebels withdrew from their last major bastion of Kismayu overnight, the group and residents said, a day after Kenyan and Somali government forces attacked the southern port.

The loss of Kismayu will deal a major blow to the al Qaeda-linked movement, weakening morale and depriving it of revenue, but is unlikely to mark the end of its five-year rebellion.

The insurgents, who once controlled large swathes of the lawless Horn of Africa country, have been turning to guerrilla-style tactics, harrying the country's weak government with suicide bombings and assassinations.

"We moved out our fighters ... from Kismayu at midnight," al Shabaab spokesman, Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage, told Reuters on Saturday.

Rage threatened to strike back. "The enemies have not yet entered the town. Let them enter Kismayu which will soon turn into a battlefield," he said.

Locals confirmed the militants had pulled out under the cover of darkness but said the Kenyan troops, fighting under an African Union peacekeeping force's banner, and Somali soldiers were still camped on the city's outskirts.

"NOW WE ARE TERRIFIED"

There were reports of looting in some areas of the city.

"Al Shabaab has not perished, so the worry is what next," said local elder Ali Hussein.

One man who was loudly celebrating the departure of al Shabaab fighters from the city was shot dead by two masked men, residents said.

"These masked men came from behind him and hit him with several bullets right in the head... Now we are terrified, everyone in Kismayu is dumb silent. We are afraid to talk on the phone outdoors," said Halima Nur, a mother of three children.

Al Shabaab, which formally merged with al Qaeda in February, has been steadily losing its footholds under sustained pressure from African Union peacekeeping forces (AMISOM) and Somali government troops for the past year.

The rebel group, which counts foreign al Qaeda-trained fighters among its ranks, is seen as one of the biggest threats to stability in the Horn of Africa. It has received advice from al Qaeda's leadership, counter-terrorism experts say.

Residents said the fighters who had abandoned Kismayu had moved to the jungles that lie between Kismayu and Afmadow as well as to other towns north of the port city like Jamame and Kabsuma.

Kenyan military spokesman Col. Cyrus Oguna said his force was still trying to check whether al Shabaab had withdrawn, and would move into the city if the rebels did not put up resistance.

Al Shabaab has pulled out of a number of urban areas including the capital, Mogadishu, in recent months under pressure from advancing African Union forces. But their continuing guerrilla attacks still pose a big challenge for newly-elected President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

PBS draws link between digital music rights and magic spells, somehow makes it look simple video

AAC files and the arcane don't have much in common on the surface. After some digging, however, PBS' Idea Channel has found that magic is an uncannily good analogy for digital music rights and explaining the thorny ethical issues that come with them. Both music and spells stem from grassroots cultures that give away their content for free, but (at least until an anti-magic clampdown at eBay) have since become businesses. That nature poses a key ethical question: when we're used to a free experience and can copy songs or spells as much as we like, what does it take to keep us as honest customers? As show host Mike Rugnetta suggests, it's a matter of personal responsibility -- if we want more of either, we have to think of the commerce as showing support for future work. You can catch Mike's clever train of thought after the break, and ponder what constitutes DRM for a potion while you're at it.

France taxes rich and business to slash deficit

PARIS (Reuters) - President Francois Hollande's Socialist government unveiled sharp tax hikes on business and the rich on Friday in a 2013 budget aimed at showing France has the fiscal rigor to remain at the core of the euro zone.

The package will recoup 30 billion euros ($39 billion) for the public purse with a goal of narrowing the deficit to 3.0 percent of national output next year from 4.5 percent this year - France's toughest single belt-tightening in 30 years.

But with record unemployment and a barrage of data pointing to economic stagnation, there are fears the deficit target will slip as France falls short of the modest 0.8 percent economic growth rate on which it is banking for next year.

The budget will also disappoint pro-reform lobbyists by merely freezing France's high public spending rather than daring to attack ministerial budgets as Spain did this week in a bid to avoid the conditions of an international bailout.

"This is a fighting budget to get the country back on the rails," Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said, adding that the 0.8 percent growth target was "realistic and ambitious".

"It is a budget which aims to bring back confidence and to break this spiral of debt that gets bigger and bigger."

With public debt at a post-war record of 91 percent of the economy, the budget is vital to France's credibility not only among euro zone partners but also in markets which for now are allowing it to borrow at record-low yields under two percent.

The government said the budget was the first in a series of steps to bring its deficit down to 0.3 percent of GDP by 2017 - missing an earlier target of a zero deficit by then.

Of the total 30 billion euros of savings, around 20 billion will come from tax increases on households and companies, with tax increases already approved this year to contribute some 4 billion euros to revenues in 2013. The freeze on spending will contribute around 10 billion euros.

FEARS OF EXODUS

To the dismay of business leaders who fear an exodus of top talent, the government confirmed a temporary 75 percent super-tax rate for earnings over one million euros and a new 45 percent band for revenues over 150,000 euros.

Together, those two measures will bring in around half a billion euros. Higher tax rates on dividends and other investments, plus cuts to existing tax breaks will bring in several billion more.

Business will be hit with measures including a cut in amount of loan interest which is tax-deductible and the cutting of an existing tax break on capital gains from certain share sales - moves worth around four billion and two billion euros each.

Four months after he defeated Nicolas Sarkozy, Hollande's approval ratings are in free-fall as many French feel he has been slow to get to grips with the economic slow-down and unemployment at a 10-year high and rising.

Data on Friday confirmed France posted zero growth in the second quarter, marking nine months of stagnation, as a pickup in business investment and government spending was offset by a worsening trade balance and sluggish consumer expenditure.

Despite a rise in wages, consumers - traditionally the motor of France's growth - increased their savings to 16.4 percent of income from 16.0 percent a year earlier. In another setback, other data showed consumer spending dropped 0.8 percent in August.

"Altogether the data paint the picture of a stagnating economy," said BNP economist Dominique Barbet.

BNP Paribas economist Helene Baudchon said the deficit was likely to come in above 3.0 percent due to the weak growth outlook. "As things stand, achieving a deficit of 3.3 percent would in itself be a remarkable outcome," she said.

Hugh Masekela Wants To Recapture Africa's Lost Heritage | Daily ...

Hugh Masekela

He comes across as a chap who is sociable, jovial and bubbling with life but Hugh Masekela is serious about using music to transform African societies.

The Grammy Award-winner has used his music as a voice in the fight for equality and justice in South Africa in the past 40 years but this time around, he wanted to refocus on how to restore what he called ?Africa?s lost heritage.?

The 73-year-old South African?trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist,?composer, and?singer wanted Africans in responsible positions to lead a crusade against westernization of the African culture.

In a hearty chat with DAILY GUIDE before the Kasapreko African Legends Night at the Banquet Hall, Accra, Masekela said, ?We have turned our backs on our heritage.?

?There is no society with so much diversity internationally as African society,? and added: ?Television and advertisements have come to convince us as Africans that our traditions are heathen, barbaric and backward.

?We are the only society in the world that feels ashamed of who we are.?

Masekela tried to trace the African heritage and said, ?Our wealth and strength is in the bush and we should not be ashamed of it.?

He faulted African intellectuals for leading all the people astray. ?Our educators are from the bush but they are taking us as far from the bush as possible?Africans by nature are farmers and hunters and we should recognize them as such.?

Masekela believed that reviving the can-do spirit of Africans would whip up enthusiasm. He wanted governments to set aside a day to commemorate what he called ?African Heritage Day.?

Quality production of traditional performances including music and art would surely lead to a restoration of the African heritage, according to Masekela.

?We need venues for traditional performances and if these are guaranteed we could make fantastic productions,? he said.

According to Masekela, the numerous languages in Africa were getting extinct because Africans themselves have adopted western and other foreign lifestyles. He said, ?It is amazing how we are losing our languages and nobody seems to take notice!?

He wanted academies set up purposely for the learning of local languages.

Masekela was also not happy at the rate at which technology was ?killing? creativity in the music industry: ?Technology has come with a lot of breakthroughs, but it has as well affected us negatively and the music industry cannot be left out.?

?Technology has compromised the art and killed originality. It has completely decimated the music industry. We don?t have people who are proficient anymore. It has killed the desire for people to be artistically capable.

?When I grew up, there was only one microphone on stage but today, everybody has a microphone. I don?t like to criticise anything but I don?t find them artistic either.

?It is a very strange world we are living in today. I look at my grandchildren and have the feeling that in 20 years they might say they used to be Africans long ago.?

He said music was ?inborn? in the African and must be credited for it.

?In South Africa, music to a certain extent lost us a country. We used to give free concert to the people who were attacking us. However, we regained our country through singing.

?Our music conscientised the rest of the world about what was happening under apartheid.?

The septuagenarian shared a secret about his healthy lifestyle, relating it to good living: ?I prefer locally prepared meals and eat well. I check what I eat and I don?t entertain junk food?Besides, I do a lot of physical exercise to keep my body in shape.?

Masekela continued to maintain a very active tour schedule, spreading his musical message of peace, harmony and unity throughout the world. He could also be heard adding his distinctive voice and flugelhorn to many other world artists? recordings?from some of Bob Marley?s earliest recordings to Buena Vista Social Club bassist?Cachaito Lopez?s 2001 solo record.

Facebook Gifts swaps virtual trinkets for real life goods

Facebook Gifts swaps virtual trinkets for real life goods

Remember the Facebook Gift Shop, that place where you could pick up virtual Troll dolls and send them to your friends? Well, it died. But, a phoenix has arisen from its ashes -- Facebook Gifts -- which will allow you to send real Troll dolls to your friends. You'll be able to order gifts for people directly through the social network and suggestions to pick up a little something will be tied into birthday reminders and life events like weddings. The new initiative is the result of its decision to purchase Karma, a social "gifting" app, in May. Over a 100 retailers have signed up for the launch, including Starbucks, and Facebook obviously will be taking a small cut of each sale, which could be a huge source of monetization for the company, especially on the mobile front. Interestingly, friends can be notified before a gift is delivered and will be given a chance to tweak orders -- just in case you don't know your mom as well as you think you do. Gifts is rolling out slowly in select cities now and will expand in the coming weeks. Though, it also has a viral element since once you've been sent a gift you are also blessed with the ability to send gifts yourself. Check out the source links for more details.

By NBC News staff

A Powerball lottery ticket sold in Iowa with a number line-up bravely built around the number 13 matched the six numbers drawn Wednesday night for a jackpot prize worth $202.1 million.

The numbers were 13, 26, 39, 41, 42 and Powerball 10. As NPR points out, the first three numbers played are all multiples of 13. The drawing took place on Sept. 26 -- also a multiple of 13 -- as Philly.com points out.

The number-savvy winner and the location where the ticket was bought are still unavailable. Another ticket that matched the first five numbers but not the Powerball one was sold in Iowa and is worth $1 million, The Associated Press reported.

"Due to of the large number of big prizes involved, the Iowa Lottery?s processing of the winning information is expected to take longer than usual," a press release from the Iowa lottery read Thursday.

According to the AP, a group of 20 employees from Cedar Rapids shared a $241 million Powerball jackpot in June.

With superior ground operations, Obama widens lead in Ohio

Romney campaigning in Ohio on Wednesday (Alex Wong/Getty Images)

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio? For Mitt Romney's campaign, the location was nothing more than a friendly business that had agreed to host a rally to promote the candidate's policies toward small businesses and manufacturing.

But it was hard not to view Romney's midday appearance at American Spring Wire, a company that makes wire that bounces back into place, as a possible metaphor for the candidate's electoral hopes in this crucial swing state.

"It goes right back to where it started," Romney told a crowd of several hundred people here, explaining how spring wire works.

He's hoping the same can be said of his race in this state. The Republican candidate's impromptu tutorial came as a series of new polls found that after months of a close race here between President Barack Obama and Romney, the GOP's chances in Ohio appear to be slipping away.

A New York Times/CBS News/Quinnipiac poll released on Wednesday found Obama leading Romney among likely Ohio voters by 10 points, 53 percent to 43 percent. It came on the heels of a Washington Post poll released on Tuesday that found Obama besting Romney by 8 points in the state.

They were the third and fourth polls in a row to find Obama expanding his lead in the Buckeye State?a move that prompted ABC News to change its projection of Ohio being a "toss up" state in November to one that "leans Obama."

As Romney spoke, Obama was campaigning on the other side of the state, holding his own rally at Bowling Green State University. There, the president lit into his Republican opponent, accusing Romney of wanting to gut education by giving wealthy Americans a tax cut. He also seized upon Romney's suggestion captured in a secretly filmed video at a fundraiser that 47 percent of Americans view themselves as "victims" and are too dependent on the government.

"I don't believe we can get very far with leaders who write off half the nation as victims," Obama said.

The dueling visits by Obama and Romney offered a hint at what has been one of the GOP candidate's major problems in Ohio: He's been largely outmaneuvered by his Democratic opponent, who has lavished money and attention on Ohio since he took office.

Wednesday marked Obama's 13th visit to the state so far this year?and his 29th since taking office, according to his campaign. That does not include an appearance Obama made in the state just days before he was officially inaugurated in January 2009?a visit many at the time said was the unofficial kickoff to his 2012 campaign.

Obama has significantly outspent Romney when it comes to television advertising in the state: Obama dropped $41 million since May compared with just $21 million by Romney, says National Journal. Outside Republican groups have made up some of that ground?chipping in about $20 million in ads in the state, according to National Journal?but the Obama campaign has spent tens of millions more building up its staff and ground operation in Ohio. And the effort appears to be having an impact on the polls, especially on the issue of the economy.

In Ohio, a state that has been hard-hit by the loss of manufacturing jobs, the Romney team believed it would benefit from voter angst over the economy. But while the NYT/CBS/Quinnipiac poll found the economy is still the top issue for Ohio voters, Obama now holds a 6-point advantage over Romney when it comes to who voters believe would do a "better job." When presented with the same question in polls during July and August, the candidates were tied.

Romney still has an advantage on the economy among Ohio independents: According to the NYT/CBS/Quinnipiac poll, 51 percent of independent voters think he would best handle the economy, compared with 45 percent for Obama.

But Romney is being hurt by his drop in support among women voters, who overwhelmingly prefer Obama on the issue of the economy?59 percent to Romney's 37 percent. Overall, female voters in Ohio prefer Obama in the race, 60 percent to Romney's 35 percent.

The Romney team has worked to make up its deficit among female voters in Ohio and other battlegrounds, appealing to them through television ads on issues like the growing federal deficit?one of the few areas where Romney continues to have an advantage over Obama.

Nevertheless, Romney aides have refuted any suggestions the candidate is in real trouble in this state. The Romney campaign has downplayed public polls, insisting its internal numbers show the race much closer?though it declined to offer specifics.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Rich Beeson, Romney's political director, said the race in Ohio is still "inside the margin of error" and accused the Obama campaign of "spiking the ball at the 30-yard line." But he declined to say whether there is a path to victory for Romney if he can't win Ohio.

"The public polls are what the public polls are," Beeson said. "I kind of hope the Obama campaign is basing their campaign on what the public polls say. We don't. We have confidence in our data and our metrics."

In response, Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki trotted out her own sports metaphor, so to speak, likening the campaign to a horse race.

"We don't get too whipped up when we're up, or too whipped up when we're down. And we're running this race in every single swing state like we're five points down. If we need to pass out horse blinders to all of our staff, we will do that," Psaki told reporters traveling with the president.

But, she added, "As time progresses, the field is looking like it's narrowing for them. And so, in that sense, we'd rather be us than them, because we want a field?or a path, I should say?where you can drive a Mack truck through it, not one where you can drive a little scooter through it."

A good reputation pays dividends for companies ? Business ...

good reputation labels? In today?s reputation economy, what you stand for matters more than what you produce and sell,? says Kasper Ulf Nielsen, Reputation Institute?s executive partner. ?People?s willingness to buy, recommend, work for and invest in a company is driven 60% by their perceptions of the company and only 40% by their perceptions of their products.?

According to Reputation Institute, the seven dimensions of corporate reputation are: workplace, governance, citizenship, financial performance, leadership, products and services, and innovation. Nielsen says the last two turned out to be less important, when it comes to driving consumers? perceptions of reputation.

In looking at the group?s list of the 100 most reputable companies in the world, one can extract lessons in how to build a good reputation for an organization:

1. Recognize that it takes more than a good deed or two. BMW, which ranks as the world?s most reputable company, according to the list, has earned trust by delivering high quality consistently over time. In BMW?s case, reputation is tied to the history of the company and many years of positive action.

2. Handling a crisis really well can actually help your reputation. Sony ranked No. 2 on the list, despite enduring a highly publicized security breach crisis last year.

3. Consumers do take note of your organization?s workplace conditions. They ranked Google No. 6 on the list, giving it the highest marks in the workplace category?and not innovation, as you might expect.

All the top-ranking companies have one thing in common: They seem to realize that simply having a strong product won?t win the love and support of consumers.

Take 360-degree tours of the Great Barrier Reef

Catlin Seaview Survey

See dozens of wonders from coral reefs and other exotic seascapes, courtesy of the Catlin Seaview Survey.

By Alan Boyle

Thousands of images from Australia's Great Barrier Reef and other coral locales are being stitched together into an eye-popping array of 360-degree panoramas for Google Maps' Street View feature?? but this million-dollar-plus project isn't just about pretty pictures. It's about sharing the wonders and the woes of the world's coral reefs with people around the globe.

"This will allow the 99.9 percent of the population who have never been diving to go on a virtual dive for the first time," said Richard Vevers, project director for the Catlin Seaview Survey.

In partnership with Google, the Seaview Survey has been mounting a series of expeditions to capture high-resolution imagery of the Great Barrier Reef and other coral reef locales. It's sponsored by Catlin Group Ltd., a global insurance group. The project went through a preview phase back in February, and since then, it has continued to ramp up. Even before the official unveiling, the Seaview Survey has gained more than 1.4 million fans on Google+.

"Now we are actually in full expedition mode," Vevers said. To celebrate Wednesday's official kickoff, the survey is staging its first public real-time dive at the Great Barrier Reef via a Google+ Hangout at 1:30 p.m. ET. It'll be the middle of the night in Australia, but it'll be getting toward midday at the Blue Ocean Film Festival in Monterey, Calif., where Vever and other Seaview Survey organizers are hanging out this week.

Here are some of the 360-degree, Street View-style goodies that are already available via Google Maps:

A video from Google Maps introduces the 360-degree coral reef panoramas.

Vevers and his colleagues aim to take 50,000 shallow-reef pictures, using a specially designed SVII camera. When all those images are stitched together into a continuous skein, the 360-degree panoramas will let users navigate their own way through one long virtual Google Maps dive. There'll also be a deep-reef survey, conducted using picture-snapping robots.

Scientists plan to analyze the photos using image-recognition software to get a quick read on coral reef health.?That's a crucial issue for the decades ahead. Half of the ocean's coral communities have been lost over the past 40 years, said the survey's chief scientist, Ove Hoegh-Guldburg of the University of Queensland's Global Change Institute. The decline is due to a variety of causes, ranging from coastal water quality to overfishing to ocean warming and acidification, he said.

"The evidence of these changes is there, but people outside the scientific community don't understand the significance of those changes," Hoegh-Guldburg told me. "If we're going to tackle these global issues, we need everyone on the planet to understand what we are in danger of losing, and what we can do to stop the decline."

He said the Seaview Survey's biggest benefit will be to give people a greater appreciation of the world's coral reefs, whether they're Australian business executives or Russian grandmothers.

Sharing the seas' wonders
The Seaview Survey aims to conduct regular expeditions that can be shared via Hangouts and other live events. All the scientific data will be made public via an online Global Reef Record database, Hoegh-Guldburg said. He's also looking into ways to enlist volunteers to analyze coral reef pictures, an idea that's taken from the citizen-science playbooks for Zooniverse and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

The survey is due to focus on the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea is due to run until the end of December, and then it'll move on to other locations around the globe, including Hawaii, the Philippines and Bermuda. Hoegh-Guldburg said the survey's tools and techniques are designed to be adapted easily for a wide range of coral reef settings ? including countries that haven't been able to assess their own coral reefs.

"Many of these countries know that their reefs are in trouble, but they don't know how much they're losing, or where they're losing the most," Hoegh-Guldburg said. "This can help them prioritize. If you don't prioritize, it's very hard to get traction."

The way he sees it, the Catlin Seaview Survey is coming just in time.

"Everybody is waking up to the realization that this is a critical decade," Hoegh-Guldburg said. "We're making decisions that could haunt us for hundreds of years if we don't get them right. It's now or never."?

Strikers shut AngloGold Ashanti mines in SAfrica

JOHANNESBURG (AP) ? Disruptions to South Africa's key mining sector increased as AngloGold Ashanti said Wednesday that strikers have halted all its operations in the country, which provide 32 percent of the multinational's gold production.

Strikes demanding higher salaries began at a Lonmin Platinum mine Aug. 10 and have spread to several others in the mining sector vital to Africa's largest economy. Anglo American Platinum workers have been striking for weeks. The labor unrest moved Monday to the transport sector with a major union saying 20,000 road freight employees are demanding a 12 percent pay rise.

AngloGold Ashanti spokesman Alan Fine said strikers prevented Tuesday's night shift from starting at the company's West Wits and Vaal River operations. They joined co-workers who downed tools at AngloGold's Kopanang mine on Sept. 20.

Fine said strikers, who are among 36,000 workers at the three sites, have not yet made demands.

Hundreds of Anglo American Platinum Mine workers gathered at the Bleskop stadium near Rustenburg on Wednesday to discuss the new terms they've given Amplats. Workers yesterday met with mine management and said they now demand a monthly take home pay of 12,500 rand ($1,560). Strike leader Gaddafi Mdoda said that the company will have seven days to respond, and the strikes will continue.

Amplats called the strikes illegal in a statement released Wednesday, and threatened disciplinary action for employees who "persist in unlawful strike action" on Thursday.

"We have repeatedly urged our employees to come back to work and I do so again," said Chris Griffith, CEO of Anglo American Platinum. "Our Rustenburg mining operations are under considerable economic pressure and their future is already under review."

Anglo American Platinum is the world's largest producer of the precious metal used in jewelry and to reduce carbon emissions of high-end vehicles.

Police were on standby at the stadium.

Mining is a crucial sector in the South African economy. South Africa produces 75 percent of the world's platinum and is the No. 4 chrome producer and the fifth-biggest gold producer. South Africa produces 7 percent of the world's production of gold.

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union said in a Wednesday statement that industrial action will be consolidated "to ensure that the employers start feeling the heat and return to the negotiations table."

Vincent Masogo of SATAWU said that at least 1,000 started marching in South Africa's eastern port city of Durban, and gatherings will continue in Johannesburg. He said they have called on workers to refrain from violence. Strikers on Tuesday threw stones at trucks driving by.

The transport union said there are no talks at the moment, and they hope the unrest will spread until a deal is reached.

"We intend to ignite further sympathy and solidarity strikes from our members in sectors such as maritime and freight rail in an effort to ensure that no goods and parcels move till the road freight workers' demands are fully met," the statement said.

How to Find Best Realtor to Get the Best Deal? | Bohol Chamber of ...

Because field of Real-estate is growing like a rocket, there are so many realtors signing up for the business. Are you looking to acquire new house or property? Or are you looking to promote your house or property? Signing a realtor is an useful one option. Some people perceives that, why real estate agent? There is some factors favors realtor strongly. Particularly, realtor will help you to buy or sell property rapidly. I don?t go into deep on this subject. It is out of context here.

I would like to discuss that which will be the factors should issue while signing the agent? You should find finest realtor among the bunch of realtors in lubbock.
First an example may be, back ground of the agent. How much experience he/she features? From how long he/she is within this business? More knowledge means more reputation. More experienced realtor can help make best deal; no matter you are buying or selling.
Where did they are doing their marketing and advertising? After all marketing is the heart of any company. Where they promote like TV, stereo, magazine, news document and other publications etc. It helps to do rapid deal. Ask them about how much success they were given from the advertisement. Make them explain the whole process of promoting and how much individuals will see it.

Another query you should ask is actually, how much time will you take normally? Is it gratifying your demand?
What number of percentage he/she will take while commission? This is very big issue. I think percentage depends how hurry you have. Because if you want to promote or purchase quickly, you have to pay more money. Therefore make deal in accordance with your requirement together with best realtor.

Every country or condition or region has association of real estate professionals. They stay in touch with one another. That is good for the customers can use. For example, Pikes peak relationship of realtors, the actual association of realtors in Colorado Condition of USA. This association connects Colorado Springs Realtors with all the customers. You should find out that the realtor you?re signing is person in the association similar to this or not.
Another aspect is area. Look into the portfolio of real estate agent. The realtor, who?s done many bargains in your area, is good for an individual. The realtor, who may have more reputation and more experience, but he/she employed in other area, is not considerably effective.

Now I would like to end my debate with two essential points. The first one is, for how much time you must make the deal? A number of realtors put the home in their listing and make there for one calendar year almost, because they have not much reputation as well as didn?t do correct advertising. Is it appropriate? No, not at all. Help make deals for three to be able to four months. There are many realtors in the market. It doesn?t make sense which signing on real estate agent for long time. The opposite can give you best deal, if you give them chance. Listing a property for one yr, also bring the particular reputation of property straight down. It is avoidable to be able to lock with one particular realtor for one 12 months.

The second one is, contact the old customers in the realtor. This is the easy get the complete picture regarding realtor. Take the report on his/her old customers using their contact number. Contact these and ask about the knowledge of the realtor. They?re going to tell you the exact situation. If they haven?big t great experience, avoid him/her. There are lots of realtors in the business. Go for other a single. Make sure that the customers you happen to be talking with you must be of your area or nearby it. The customers of other area have excellent experience, but might be possibility that clients of your area won?t satisfied.

At the end, summary is, find the best real estate professional to get the best deal. That is the best realtor? Now you must the answer of this issue. You can find it from the bunch. Test him/her with all the question I have described and make decision. The search of good agent becomes very difficult, because there are so many people coming into e-commerce regularly. There are so many people the Colorado Spgs Real Estate, who has followed this as a side business. So locate best Colorado Comes Realtor is easy for you.

Farthest ever view of the universe assembled by combining 10 years of NASA Hubble Space Telescope photographs

ScienceDaily (Sep. 25, 2012) ? Like photographers assembling a portfolio of best shots, astronomers have assembled a new, improved portrait of humankind's deepest-ever view of the universe.

Called the eXtreme Deep Field, or XDF, the photo was assembled by combining 10 years of NASA Hubble Space Telescope photographs taken of a patch of sky at the center of the original Hubble Ultra Deep Field. The XDF is a small fraction of the angular diameter of the full Moon.

The Hubble Ultra Deep Field is an image of a small area of space in the constellation Fornax, created using Hubble Space Telescope data from 2003 and 2004. By collecting faint light over many hours of observation, it revealed thousands of galaxies, both nearby and very distant, making it the deepest image of the universe ever taken at that time.

The new full-color XDF image reaches much fainter galaxies, and includes very deep exposures in red light from Hubble's new infrared camera, enabling new studies of the earliest galaxies in the universe. The XDF contains about 5,500 galaxies even within its smaller field of view. The faintest galaxies are one ten-billionth the brightness of what the human eye can see.

Magnificent spiral galaxies similar in shape to our Milky Way and the neighboring Andromeda galaxy appear in this image, as do the large, fuzzy red galaxies where the formation of new stars has ceased. These red galaxies are the remnants of dramatic collisions between galaxies and are in their declining years. Peppered across the field are tiny, faint, more distant galaxies that were like the seedlings from which today's striking galaxies grew. The history of galaxies -- from soon after the first galaxies were born to the great galaxies of today, like our Milky Way -- is laid out in this one remarkable image.

Hubble pointed at a tiny patch of southern sky in repeat visits (made over the past decade) for a total of 50 days, with a total exposure time of 2 million seconds. More than 2,000 images of the same field were taken with Hubble's two premier cameras -- the Advanced Camera for Surveys and the Wide Field Camera 3, which extends Hubble's vision into near-infrared light -- and combined to make the XDF.

"The XDF is the deepest image of the sky ever obtained and reveals the faintest and most distant galaxies ever seen. XDF allows us to explore further back in time than ever before," said Garth Illingworth of the University of California at Santa Cruz, principal investigator of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field 2009 (HUDF09) program.

The universe is 13.7 billion years old, and the XDF reveals galaxies that span back 13.2 billion years in time. Most of the galaxies in the XDF are seen when they were young, small, and growing, often violently as they collided and merged together. The early universe was a time of dramatic birth for galaxies containing brilliant blue stars extraordinarily brighter than our Sun. The light from those past events is just arriving at Earth now, and so the XDF is a "time tunnel into the distant past." The youngest galaxy found in the XDF existed just 450 million years after the universe's birth in the big bang.

Before Hubble was launched in 1990, astronomers could barely see normal galaxies to 7 billion light-years away, about halfway across the universe. Observations with telescopes on the ground were not able to establish how galaxies formed and evolved in the early universe.

Hubble gave astronomers their first view of the actual forms and shapes of galaxies when they were young. This provided compelling, direct visual evidence that the universe is truly changing as it ages. Like watching individual frames of a motion picture, the Hubble deep surveys reveal the emergence of structure in the infant universe and the subsequent dynamic stages of galaxy evolution.

The infrared vision of NASA's planned James Webb Space Telescope (Webb telescope) will be aimed at the XDF. The Webb telescope will find even fainter galaxies that existed when the universe was just a few hundred million years old. Because of the expansion of the universe, light from the distant past is stretched into longer, infrared wavelengths. The Webb telescope's infrared vision is ideally suited to push the XDF even deeper, into a time when the first stars and galaxies formed and filled the early "dark ages" of the universe with light.

The XDF/HUDF09 team members are G. Illingworth (University of California, Santa Cruz), R. Bouwens (Leiden University), M. Carollo (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH)), M. Franx (Leiden University), V. Gonzalez (University of California, Santa Cruz), I. Labbe (Leiden University), D. Magee and P. Oesch (University of California, Santa Cruz), M. Stiavelli (Space Telescope Science Institute), M. Trenti (University of Cambridge), and P. van Dokkum (Yale University).

The public is invited to participate in a "Meet the Hubble eXtreme Deep Field Observing Team" webinar, in which three key astronomers of the XDF observing team will describe how they assembled the landmark image and explain what it tells us about the evolving universe. Participants are invited to send in questions for the panel of experts to discuss. The webinar will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, September 27, 2012. How To Buy And Avoid Costly Mistakes | Eric Chua : Life, Business ...

Purchasing property can be nerve-wracking, but life-changing. Though, the stress in buying a house can be reduced with the right information. If you read these tips, buying a home can be a better experience.

Before buying a home, get an inspector to examine it. If you skip the inspection, you might discover hidden problems after you?ve already bought the house, and these problems may be expensive or difficult to fix. Not only do surprise renovations cost you money you don?t want to spend, if they?re really serious, you might have to find another place to live while the work is being done.

If you want a great investment in buying property, you should think about repairing and remodeling it. This increases the value of your investment by boosting its resale value. Sometimes your property value will increase more than the money you put in.

TIP! If your employment isn?t steady, you may want to reconsider a home purchase until it becomes so. Putting your signature on the mortgage means that, regardless of events, you are solely responsible for your payments.

If you plan to purchase all or some of a building for opening a business, be sure it is in a good neighborhood with ample growth opportunities. Opening your business in a terrible neighborhood can prevent you from having a large client base. Talk to a real estate professional to find out what locations are ideal for starting up a new business.

If you are considering purchasing a house that has a view, avoid paying high premiums for view lots. You may feel that the view is worthy of the extra amount, but others may not agree when it is time to resell. You can buy the home because you enjoy the view, but you do not have to overpay.

Be sure to save up the down payment your mortgage loan servicing company requires. Otherwise you may have to end up paying PMI, which is private mortgage insurance. This means you have to spend extra money every month just to prove you can afford your payments without actually working toward paying back your mortgage.

TIP! When looking at details about potential home purchases, remember to check for adequate parking if you own an automobile. This is even more important if the home lacks a driveway.

Do a little investigative work of your own by measuring the home before you purchase. Make sure your home?s square feet is listed correctly on the public record. If the discrepancy between the numbers is more than a hundred square feet, think twice about making an offer on this listing or start investigating why the discrepancy exists.

Make sure you qualify for a loan before you start looking for a home. You don?t want to discover the home you love without being able to pay for it. Securing financing can take a long time, and you don?t want to lose your house waiting for that loan.

When purchasing a home, hire all of your own support people. You may want to take the easy way out and work with the people the seller chose, but that is a bad idea. That way, you could get these services for free, instead of having to pay for them.
