Three Roanoke College employees honored for service

The Rev. Paul Henrickson and Berta LawrenceSalem, Va.-The Rev. Paul Henrickson is Roanoke College's spiritual leader. Judi Pinckney is known for working beyond her job duties as a secretary for two academic departments. ?Berta Lawrence is the spirit of the Dining Services kitchen and practices service with a smile.

These three Roanoke College employees were named the College's STAR Award winners for 2012. The annual Service to all Roanoke award recognizes exemplary accomplishments and service to the College. ?

Henrickson (pictured to the left) is the chaplain at Roanoke, where he has worked for the past 29 years. He spends countless hours ministering to students, faculty and staff, including leading late-night Bible studies with students and traveling to Louisiana to build Habitat for Humanity houses.

Henrickson will retire this spring.

Pinckney (pictured below) is a secretary in Roanoke's Public Affairs, Religion and Philosophy departments, where colleagues say she keeps the offices operating efficiently. Pinckney, who has worked at Roanoke for 10 years, was recognized for her strong organizational skills and friendly demeanor.

Lawrence (pictured above) is a kitchen coordinator for Roanoke's Dining Services, and she was praised for her dedicated work ethic and her ability to run the kitchen smoothly and cheerfully. She has worked at Roanoke for 11 years.

The STAR Award is given to employees in exempt, nonexempt and hourly categories. After receiving nominations, Roanoke officials select a winner in each category. Winners receive $1,000.
