Air India revealed plans of offering flights to non-metro cities to meet demand for air connectivity in these destinations.

According to a report in?Traveltechie.com, Air India plans to add more aircraft to its fleet and introduce flights to non-metro destinations, offering flights on the existing routes during non-peak hours connecting tier-II and tier-III cities with the metro. Air India recently launched Delhi-Gwalior-Mumbai-Gwalior-Delhi, Delhi-Ranchi-Delhi and Delhi-Kanpur-Kolkata-Kanpur-Delhi flights, and is planning to launch Delhi-Vizag-Chennai-Vizag-Delhi, Delhi-Coimbatore, Delhi-Vadodara-Surat, Delhi-Port Blair flights.

A senior Air India official has confirmed that the airline is currently doing a feasibility study about the possible load and ways to connect small towns such as Bhagalpur in Bihar, Deogarh in Jharkhand, Agra and Gorkhapur in Uttar Pradesh to the major cities in the country.
