Exile leader says killing of Tibetans unacceptable (AP)

DHARMSALA, India ? The head of the Tibetan government-in-exile says the killing of Tibetan protesters in China is unacceptable.

Lobsang Sangay is calling for a worldwide vigil by Tibetans and their supporters next month to press the Chinese government to resolve the crisis in Tibet through dialogue.

At least two Tibetans were killed and several more were wounded when security forces opened fire on a crowd of protesters in southwestern China earlier this week.

Sangay said in a statement Thursday that Tibetans in China are denied their basic human rights and the region is under undeclared martial law.

Over the past year, 16 Buddhist monks, nuns and other Tibetans have set themselves on fire in protests against Chinese rule.
