Chicago Real Estate Companies Home Sales - 1st Half of 2011 ...

Despite a weak economy and a slow housing recovery, some Chicago real estate companies have seen home sales increase during the first half of this year compared to last year.

According to Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED), the area?s multiple listing service, out of Chicago?s top six residential real estate companies, half of them posted a rise in home sales during the first six months of 2011.

Here are those firms, with their market share percentages for the first half of 2011 and 2010:

*RE/MAX: 2011 ? 8.5 percent; 2010 ? 7.6 percent

*@Properties: 2011 ? 10.1 percent; 2010 ? 9.6 percent

*Coldwell Banker: 2011 ? 7.9 percent; 2010 ? 9.6 percent

*Prudential: 2011 ? 6.5 percent; 2010 ? 6.1 percent

*Baird & Warner: 2011 ? 4.1 percent; 2010 ? 4.6 percent

*Real Living: 2011 ? 3.7 percent; 2010 ? 5.0 percent

RE/MAX brokers sold 1,310 attached and detached Chicago homes in the first half of 2011. That?s 56 percent more than the 839 listings the Chicago real estate company sold during the first half of 2010, and the largest increase in transactions of all the top Chicago companies during the first half of this year.

?RE/MAX is number one in more city neighborhoods than any other real estate brand and continues to lead the metro Chicago real estate market in listing units sold, sales made and total transactions,? said Laura Ortoleva, the network?s spokesperson for northern Illinois. ?Our goal is to bring RE/MAX world-class market expertise and service to as many Chicago neighborhoods as possible.?
